For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

These are the Apostle Paul's words while in prison for preaching the Gospel.

WHY?WHERE?WHEN?

As many of you know, I am going back to Africa for the summer. I am going to answer the most often asked questions to make it simple.

WHERE? I will be based on Lingira Island, one of about 50 islands in the Buvuma Island chain on Lake Victoria in southern Uganda.

WITH WHOM? SHIM (Shepherd's Heart International Ministry), founded by a nurse, Karina Smith. Now they have multiple American and national full time workers.

HOW LONG? 3 months this summer. Hopefully it will lead into a full-time commitment.

WHY? (The most often asked which is always accompanied with a really puzzled face expression)
Most importantly to "bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort those who mourn...to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." Isaiah 61:1-3

Is it Dangerous? Uh, Yeah. For some. For me, no. There is not a safer place to be than the will of God. What can man, beast, or land do against their Creator's will?

WHAT NEXT? If all goes according to plan, I will come back the 1st of September. Perhaps work at my dream job, UofL ER, for 6 months while I raise support then go full-time medical missions in Uganda.

What does your Mother say? "Karina, follow Jesus Christ with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength." and "I put this picture up of you...just in case you don't make it back."
